[INTERVIEW]: The journey of Ijeoma Hilda

 

 

Ogbu Ijeoma Florence Hilda widely known as “Ijeoma Hilda” is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, choral director and a performing artist from Enugu State, Nigeria.

 

As a music addict, Ijeoma Hilda started singing at a tender age of seven (7). On discovering that she is talented in singing, Ijeoma Hilda joined the choir group of the then St. Peter’s Catholic Church obukpa layout (Now known as Divine Mercy parish Obukpa Layout). Due to her effort, passion and interest in music, she was made one of the choirmasters regardless of her age and size.

 

Ijeoma Hilda is a classic soprano music singer that has featured in several Christmas carols. One among them was Carol of Nine Lessons organized by Voice on the Rock Music choral in 2018 at the faculty of Art Theater University of Nigeria Nsukka.

In 2018, she was appointed the “Concert Master” of Voice on the Rock Music choral.

 

In 2019, Ijeoma was appointed the committee chairman and director of CYON choral group at Divine Mercy Catholic Church obukpa layout. As a choirmaster, she has taken her choir to denary competition where they came out in flying colours. She was the choirmaster that anchored the 2017 Festival of music in her parish where one of her composition tittled “mgbaghara di mma” (folk song) was rendered.

 

On October 22nd, Hilda released her debut single titled “Thank you Lord” to mark her birthday celebrations and her starting point in music career.
